The "4th Pasta Bridge Competition," organized by the TMMOB Chamber of Civil Engineers Ankara Branch, took place on May 16-17, 2026, with enthusiastic participation. In this challenging event where young engineering candidates merge theoretical knowledge with practical application, our Civil Engineering Department students, competing as team "Beş Makaron," achieved a remarkable victory by securing first place.
AFYON – On May 15, 2026, the TED University Department of Civil Engineering organized a technical field trip to the Park Afyon Shopping Mall expansion project to observe innovative developments in structural technologies and earthquake safety applications.
The article titled " Development of a high-capacity apparatus with a novel structural design for large-scale direct shear testing of soils" with our former research assistant Dr. Anıl Ekici as the first author and our current research assistant Ömer Can Pamuk as the fourth author, has been published in the Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.
The paper titled “Projecting Precipitation Extremes over Cyprus using CMIP6 Climate Scenarios,” with Neslihan Pınar Gödek Hayal, a research assistant in our department, as the first author, has been published in the journal Natural Hazards.
An article titled “Seismic Performance of Post-Tensioned Cast-in-Place Reinforced Concrete Structures Based on Component Testing,” with Dr. Ertürk Tuncer, a faculty member of our department, as the first author, has been published in the Journal of Building Engineering.
The papers titled “Behavior of Post -Tensioned Reinforced Concrete Beams under Cyclic Loading” and “Flexural Response of FRP Bonded Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Beams,” with Dr. Ertürk Tuncer, a faculty member of our department, as the first author, have been published in the proceedings of the conference titled “Integrating Technology for Advanced Practices in Structural Engineering and Construction,” held in Sydney, Australia, on November 17–21, 2025.
An article titled “Seismic Response of Post-Tensioned Reinforced Concrete Beams,” co-authored by Dr. Ertürk Tuncer, a faculty member of our department, has been published in the journal Structures.
Ertürk Tuncer, a lecturer in our department, has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation titled “Seismic Performance of Post-Tensioned Cast-in-Place Reinforced Concrete Beams,” which he completed under the Structural Engineering Division of the Department of Civil Engineering at Middle East Technical University, and has been awarded the degree of PhD.
The project titled “Investigation of Settling Velocities of Regularly and Irregularly Shaped Microplastic Particles Using Experimental, Numerical, and Deep Learning-Based Methods,” led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aslı Numanoğlu Genç from our department and supported by the TÜBİTAK 1001 program, was successfully completed.
