Rapid urbanization and population growth in parallel with technological developments and industrialization have increased pressure on the environment all over the world. While the growth in production and marketing makes excessive use of natural resources inevitable, wastes produced due to increasing trend of consumption have reached to threatening levels due to their quantity and hazardous contents. On this account, the protection of environment has become one of the major priority policies of countries and waste management has taken a major field among the environmental protection policies of all countries.Disposal of hazardous and special wastes produced by industry and energy sectors without giving harm to nature and to human health is the main question of waste management. Industrial hazardous waste management involves the collection, transportation, treatment, recycling and disposal of industrial hazardous materials that pose risk to their surroundings In this presentation; mainly the current situation of hazardous waste management system of Turkey and the proposed recommendations for implementation will be reviewed. The papers in the relevant literature will be presented to answer the question of how we are going to manage the hazardous waste taking into consideration the locations of sites snd the routing of hazardous waste and waste residues to and from these sites.

Ayyüce Aydemir

Dr. Ayyüce Aydemir Karadağ received her Master's degree in Industrial Engineering Department from Başkent University (2008) and PHD degree from Gazi University (2012). She worked for Industrial Engineering Department of Başkent University for 7 years as a Research Assistant, and for Logistics Management Department of University of Turkish Aeronautics Association as an Assistant Professor between March 2013 and November 2014. She teaches courses on Mathematics, Project Management, Simulation and Heuristic Optimization. Dr. Karadağ’s studies concentrate on Operations Research, Heuristic Optimization, Simulation Optimization, Scheduling in theory, and airline industry, waste management and inverse production in practice.
